無論是heavy metal、hard rock、hair metal都是興盛於80年末至90年初最受歡迎的搖滾樂之代名詞，令無數搖滾迷瘋狂著迷不已的輝煌時期，長髮披肩、緊身皮衣褲、長統尖頭靴、閃亮銀飾品穿戴等裝扮，全是那個年代最為標地的象徵打扮！繼久違的gun n’ roses(槍與玫瑰)推出精選後，後期崛起並風光佔有搖滾一席之地的mr. big，傳出正式解散之憾，也推出了最後精選大碟！
原始成員eric martin(主唱)、paul gilbert(吉他手)、billy sheehan(貝斯手)及pat torpey(鼓手)，都是在搖滾樂界出了名的超級樂手及嗆聲主音！擁有最黃金陣容的組合，讓mr. big尚未出道便成為各界矚目之焦點。首張於1989年發行的同名專輯，深獲amg四顆星高評，透著厚實搖滾風味，讓所有樂手發揮神乎其技的演奏實力，雖然沒有頂亮眼的商業佳績，但mr. big仍是備受各界看好的新秀樂團。1992年連獲amg 四顆星高評的專輯「lean into it」，首推單曲'green-tinted sixties mind'，雖然表現仍然平平，但跨年所推出的'to be with you'，馬上成了炫風般攻入全球各榜，締造首支冠軍單曲，也是電台點播率居高不下的國歌級曲目！隨後於1993年發行「bump ahead」，也慢慢加多抒情歌及中版搖滾的比例。還特別將日本表演實況錄製成現場專輯，以饗支持度最高的日本樂迷，隨後發行「hey man」(1996)、「get over it」(2000)、「actual size」(2001)等錄音室作品，期間還發行了「raw like sushi」(1994)、「japandemoniumi」(1994)、「live at the hard rock」(1998)、「mr. big in japan」(2002)等出片仍算密集的多張現場特輯！就在90年末mr. big仍馬不停蹄的巡迴演出之際，paul gilbert為了專心他的個人音樂生涯而離開mr. big，取而代之的是poison(毒藥樂團)的吉他手richie kotzen，仍有著可圈可點的精采表現。
就在團員間仍各自展開音樂事業之時，mr. big仍難逃解散的命運，成軍近15年，也陪了搖滾饕客度過了搖滾樂最黃金的時期，所締造出的佳作，仍是令樂迷們記憶猶新！
